Eagle Fest!

Today was Eagle Fest! And I learned a lot about the physical toll of working in a museum. Before the program started, we needed to clear a path through the archives so that we could have a quick way for visitors to exit the auditorium while others were entering. It was quite a bit of heavy lifting! Later during the program, I was either standing and helping with the refreshments or walking around and taking pictures for the historical society newsletter. I learned that when it comes to shoes, function trumps fashion in this business every time. The program itself was very cool though; there were different birds of prey from the Hawk Mountain bird sanctuary. My favorites were Una the Snowy Owl, Benson the Bald Eagle (who had a very bad attitude) and Julia the partially blind Golden Eagle. The kids really loved seeing the birds and seemed to enjoy the activities we set up for them.
