Today I got to meet Carol who is the reference librarian who had been out for knee surgery. She taught me about the archives a bit before Jill assigned me to help Priscilla and work on accessioning (Verb. To record the addition of a new item to a library, museum or other collection) artifacts from the severely backlogged processing room. I spent most of the day working on items from the Spanish-American War and World War I, so that was very cool (the picture above is a German helmet from WWI which reads "With God for King and Country"). I finished out the day by working with Jill on a new Civil War exhibit, we have three display cases to fill and we have to decide what kind of story we are going to tell. It’s an interesting challenge that I look forward to tackling!
