Another Field Trip!

Today Jill and I got to go on another field trip. There are several churches closing and one of them wanted to donate some things to us including the altarpiece. It was a beautiful woodcarving from the early 20th century carved by a local man from Bavaria. Unfortunately it was also huge and likely just end up in storage rather than somewhere it could be appreciated by visitors. After returning to the museum, I helped Joe round up artifacts related to Lincoln that he could take with him to Harrisburg. He’s giving a speech in the House of Representatives commemorating the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s funeral train stopping in Harrisburg. I finished out my day by learning about front desk duties like how to use the cash register and answer the phones. Nothing very history-related but important to know in any business.
